Cosmetology 1 (Period 1 & 2)
Course Description
Cosmetology 1 is a two-period block class.
General requirements. This course is recommended for students in Grades 11.
Recommended prerequisite: Introduction to Cosmetology.
(b) Introduction. Students coordinate integration of academic, career, and technical knowledge and skills in this laboratory instructional sequence course designed to provide job-specific training for employment in cosmetology careers. Instruction includes sterilization and sanitation procedures, haircare, nail care, and skin care and meets the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation requirements for licensure upon passing the state examination.
Cosmetologist:
Cosmetologists provide beauty services that include caring for the cosmetic condition of hair, skin and nails. The field of cosmetology encompasses several occupations, including hairstylist and hairdresser, shampooer, barber, skin care specialist and nail technician.
