Welcome to the Classical Guitar family. Thank you parents and guardians for entrusting me with your kids. It is an honor and a pleasure to be working with them. For those who are returning to the program thank you for your time and dedication. For those of you who are joining us for the first time, I look forward to working with you.

What is the Classical Guitar Program about you may ask?

Let me give you a brief explanation of the program. The program starts at the 6th grade level and continues all the way through 12th grade. We try to get all or most of the students to join in the middle school level but we do provide a beginner course at MHS for those who were not able to join in the middle school level. ALL students begin with learning how to read music. ALL students participate in our yearly concerts and performances. Students also have opportunities to compete in UIL state competitions. Dedication, teamwork, time management, trust and a good healthy attitude are just a few character traits that students will work on and use to become successful.

What does the Classical Guitar look like at the High School level?

Everything we did at the Jr. High level still remains but at a much more demanding level. The program is still going to require students focus and determination in order for them to be successful. Students will still be performing and competing in UIL competitions. High school will also provide the students an opportunity to work with: electric guitar, acoustic guitar, 12 string guitar, bass, requinto, mandolin, ukulele and some percussive instruments. I am working on creating the following groups for students to expand what they have learned and explore the full spectrum of musicianship:

  • Varsity Guitar Group
  • Jr. Varsity Guitar Group
  • MHS Guitar Quartet, Trio and Duet
  • MHS All Female Group
  • Live Rock N’ Roll Group
  • Flamenco
  • Song writing (these students write, record and perform music they wrote)
  • Recording Studio
  • Live sound production
