MHS Holiday Drives Have begun

You may collect during your Enrichment Period-1st, challenge your building teachers to see who can be the CANNED FOOD DRIVE BUILDING CHAMPIONS, or challenge your department teachers.  The purpose of the collection is to make a difference in the community of Mission.  Collection deadline will be forthcoming.  At the same time, a school challenge incentive will be announced during the next couple of days.

Please contact Mr. B. Garza or myself when you are ready for the Ag. Science students and teachers to come by your classroom to pick up food donations.  Let’s show everyone that WEare THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL and CAMPUS in the district.

In an effort to promote community service and involvement in providing for those that are not as fortunate as most of us during the winter holidays, we are allowing staff to….

wear JEANS and a school spirit shirt on Thursday, November 16 if - staff member brings 20 cans or 2 toys on/before Thursday, November 16.

wearJEANS w/themes for the entire week of December 11-15 if - staff member brings 20 cans & 2 toys  (in addition to the first donation) before Friday, December 8, 2017.

Another need for our students and their families during the winter months are jackets, jeans and shoe wear.  If you have jackets, jeans, or shoes that your children have outgrown or you do not use, please bring them to school and give them to Mr. Hector Garza, MHS Parental Liaison.

Canned foods/non-perishable items and toys are to be submitted to Mrs. Womack’s office for review and check-off.  An identification item allowing you to wear jeans will be provided by Mrs. S. Rodriguez’s office, MHS Dean of Instruction.  This item will need to be worn on Thursday, November 16, and/or during the week of December 11-15.  Keep in mind that professional attire MUST be worn if you are attending a meeting at central office, Region One, or any other training site off-campus.  Professional attire and behavior by all staff are theHIGHEST EXPECTATIONS for Mission High School employees when attending professional development training sessions.

Continue to promote student involvement and spirited competition between classrooms, professional colleagues, departments, clubs, etc. in regards to bringing in canned foods/non-perishable items and toys.  Encourage students to participate in making a difference in our community.  Last year, we collected over 400 toys and 46,000 food items.

All toys donated by staff and collected by the Junior Class were distributed at the Mission Municipal Building before the Christmas Holidays, while all food items were presented to our local food pantries by our Mission High School FFA Officers.  We challenge everyone to do MORE!
