FFA Team Completes a Phenomenal Year

The team earned the following awards this year as they advanced to the State Finals. District Champions (1st place) in the Rio Grande Valley FFA District, Area X FFA Regional Champions (1st place), Reserve Champions (2nd place) in the Texas FFA State Semi-Finals, and 4th place overall in the Texas FFA State Finals in Parliamentary Procedure.

FFA Leadership Development Events such as the Parliamentary Procedure Contest focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms. Chapter Conducting Teams conduct a mock chapter meeting to demonstrate knowledge of parliamentary law and the use of correct parliamentary procedures.  At the conclusion of the meeting, team members are asked questions regarding parliamentary law.

Over the years the Mission High School Teams have established themselves as one of the top Parliamentary Teams in the State. This year’s team continued this winning tradition and has left its mark at the state level as a powerhouse in this event.

Mission High School FFA Advisors are: Clarissa Saenz, Eduardo Salinas, Marcos Villarreal, and Benito Garza.
