The student athletic trainers took classes on diabetes, concussion, MRSA, and ankle injuries including anatomy, imaging, and taping. The students also had a chance to meet the founders of the Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Foundation, Eddie and Chris Canales. One of Mission High’s student athletic trainer, Nelida Garza, finished in the top 5 finalists in the ankle taping contest, where she competed against over 20 contestants where they were judged for time and effectiveness. These student athletic trainers were sponsored by the Soaring Eagles Football Booster club and were supervised by Athletic Trainers Bob Aparicio, Jr. and Lori Armendariz.
