The Mission High School High Flyers recently attended the Showmakers of America Alamo City competition on February 28 and March 1, 2014. They entered 20 routines and received the following awards:
1. In the officer category they received Sweepstakes Division 1, the Showmanship award in the Jazz, Modern, and Hip Hop Categories, and they received a 3rd Place Best in Category for the modern routine. Officers are: Major Amanda Saenz, 1st Captain Claudia Cavazos, 2nd Captain Lidia Contreras, 1st Lieutenant Cassandra Gonzalez, and 2nd Lieutenant Arlet Garcia.
2. In the team category they received Sweepstakes Division 1, the Showmanship award in the Hip Hop, Military, and Pom categories, and 2nd place Best in Category for the Military routine.
3. In the Small Ensemble Category Amanda Saenz, Claudia Cavazos, and Arlet Garcia received 2nd place.
4. Duet # 1 of Anahi Barajas and Rosa Gonzalez received a Division 1
5. Duet # 2 of Crystal Hernandez and Ailee Piña received a Division 1
