The Number Sense team took first place team overall with Edgar Garza placing 1st in 9th grade division, Luis Gonzalez placing 2nd in 10th grade division and Dan Huang taking 3rd place in 11th grade division. The team is coached by Mr. N. Pena
The Calculator Applications team took 2nd place overall with Ricardo Yruegas placing 1st in 10th grade division, Edgar Garza placing 2nd in 9th grade division, and Luis Gonzalez placing 2nd in 11th grade division. The team is coached by Ms. R Baglin.
The Mathematics team did a great job overall with Luis Gonzalez taking 1st and Dan Huang taking 4th in 11th grade division and Edgar Garza taking 2nd place in 9th grade division. The team is coached by Mr. N. Pena.
Team members also took the science exam in order to compete in Top Gun of Texas competition in which math and science scores are tallied together to determine the best math/science students. Edgar Garza placed 4th in science 9th grade level and took Top Gun 1st place in 9th grade level. Luis Gonzalez’ science score gave him Top Gun 1st place in 11th grade level. Dan Huang’s science score gave her a 4th place Top Gun in 11th grade level. Congratulations to all the math students and Mr. Pena and Ms. Baglin.
The MHS Accounting team also took top team in 4A division and top team overall. Competing this week were Andy Garcia who took 1st place, Diana Del Moral who took 2nd place, Eri Longoria who took 6th place, Luis Blanco and Javier Nevarez. Congratulations to the accounting team and Mr. Ocana.
In Computer Applications, Iliana Pimentel took 1st place and Sarah Lopez took 4th place. Congratulations to the team and Ms. Gloria Gonzalez.
In Journalism, Rocio Rendon took 3rd place in Feature Writing; Alexia Puente took 5th place in Editorial Writing and 1st place in Headline Writing. Also competing were Isaias Ortiz and Violeta Rivera. Congratulations to the Journalism team and their journalism coach, Mrs. Cantu.
In Ready Writing, Jazmin Vega took 1st place. Also competing were Leo Salinas, Angel Salinas, Sarai Vazquez, and Nicole Reyes. The Team is coached by Mr. L. Trevino
